Why a physical key,
not just an app?
Because every blocker has an off switch — and an app leaves it one tap away.
The off switch is in another room.
Your phone still does the blocking. The key's only job is to be there when you unlock — held against your phone — and until it is, the apps stay shut.
Software friction erodes. The dialog you read the first time, your thumb dismisses by the tenth. Distance doesn't erode — there is no habituation curve on walking to the next room, and no sequence of taps that shortens it.
And deleting the app? On Android, strict mode makes it harder while a session is running — Safe Mode or turning off Accessibility still gets past it. On iPhone you can, and the session ends with it. We document that difference rather than promise a guarantee we can't keep — how enforcement differs by platform.

Chat on WhatsAppTurning Bluetooth off doesn't end the session — your apps stay locked. The blocking runs on your phone, not over Bluetooth; the key only matters at the moment you unlock, with your phone held against it. It's the first question everyone asks, and it was the first loophole we closed.
On iPhone you can — deleting the app ends the session. On Android, Strict Mode makes Spark much harder to uninstall or switch off while a session is running, though someone determined can still get past it through Safe Mode or by turning off its Accessibility permission. We'd rather tell you that than promise a guarantee we can't keep.
The Bluetooth Spark works with any iPhone on iOS 17 or later and any Android phone on Android 12 or later. The NFC Spark is cheaper but also needs a phone with an NFC reader, which many budget Android handsets don't have; the buy page helps you check before you order.
The Bluetooth Spark runs on a CR2032 coin cell — nothing to charge, no cable in the box. We haven't measured battery life on finished units yet, so we won't quote a number; when it does run out, a fresh cell costs a few rupees at any shop in India. The NFC Spark has no battery at all.
There isn't much to break: no screen, no moving parts, nothing to charge, and it spends its life on a shelf. It has a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and if it arrives damaged or doesn't work, tell us within 7 days of delivery, with a photo, and we'll replace it.
